Day 43 Cobb Island, MD

Cobb Island is at the meeting of the Potomac & Wicomico Rivers in Southern Maryland where we stay with my best friend John Jones & his wife Gayle.

The island has about 1500 residents - about half , like John & Gayle come down in summer & weekends.

The island is great for bike riding & doing nothing. Wanda got caught up on some reading & relaxing while
I went out fishing with John & Gayle.

The "back" side of the island is Neale Sound

which has some pretty cool houses and 3 marinas:
Capt. John's Crab House,
Pirates Den which is mostly sailboats and

Shymanskys where John keeps his boat.

Where we normally have been fishing is a bar just off the main shipping channel of the Potomac.

There's always a wide variety of comercial shipping, sailors, fishing & cruising boats.

We hooked 4, boated 3 and kept 2, enough for supper.

John's got a pretty neat fish filleting set up using an old porcelain sink.
Last year we caught our limit in 3 hours and probably threw back 30 that were under 18".

We also caught this skate last year. It took about 1/2 hour to land & was about 5' across at the wings.

Matt ( in front) & Robert( in the rear) were working this summer so we didn't see them this trip.

Cobb Island has the small town P.O. next to the grocery & ice cream parlor.
They have the largest Fire House and more
fire equipment than most towns 5 times their size
Villa Sans Souci is one of the more unique Island homes, the House & wall were built in the 1920's.

Sunsets from previous years.
